Below are some of the common uses and applications for double sided tape in manufacturing and assembly.

Bonding

In manufacturing, double sided tape can be used to bond two surfaces together (permanently or temporarily) without the need for welding, screws, rivets, or other fasteners. Double sided tape provides a clean appearance, reduces assembly time, and distributes stress evenly across the bonded surfaces.

Mounting

Sealing And Gasketing

Packaging

There are a number of packaging applications for double sided tape, including: bundling items together, bonding layers of cardboard, creating easy-open features (in envelopes, boxes, and packages), and attaching foam inserts, liners, and padding inside boxes. Insulation

Double sided tape can be used to attach insulating materials, such as attaching metal building insulation to metal framing. This can be done by applying double sided tape to the purlins and adhering the ends of edges of the hanging insulation to the double sided tape, which will prevent it from flapping or blowing during installation.

Sound And Vibration Dampening

Double sided tape can be used to attach dampening materials that help reduce sound and/or vibration.

Cable And Wire Management

Cable, wires, and harnesses can be secured in place with double sided tape. The tape organizes cables and wires, prevents tangling, and helps facilitate maintenance and repairs (by allowing easier access to components).
